Secured by Design
Secured by Design is a police initiative which encourages the building industry to adopt crime prevention measures in the design of developments to assist in reducing the opportunity for, and fear of, crime creating a safe and more secure environment.
It aims to ‘design out crime’ by ensuring that all aspects of the home such as gates and fences; and front doors and windows are secure and that there is sufficient lighting and visibility to prevent the opportunist burglar or trespasser.
At Isambard Environmental we can liaise with all relevant parties (local police, developers, architects and suppliers) to coordinate the application and ensure that the development meets the requirements of Secured by Design.
Secured by Design can achieve credits in BREEAM New Construction 2014, the Home Quality Mark and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
